Did you know that you can use bija seed mantras for meditation?
There are various ways to strengthen and stimulate one’s chakra. You can use crystals, yoga, and of course, meditation.
One popular way to balance the chakras of the body is by using sound through the chanting of the bija mantras. They are also called “seed syllables”. For every sound you create, it is linked with a chakra found in the body. Once you chant all the seven Bija mantras, it will bring balance and harmony to the seven chakra system.
Bija mantras are sound techniques that can be used in the practice of meditation to active and clear the chakras. This would then allow energy to flow through every part of your body and enhances the spiritual and sexual areas of your life. Chanting the bija mantras also enhances your deep breathing exercises.
To chant the bija mantras you have to situate yourself in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. It is important to understand how to properly chant the bija mantras for your practice to become successful.
The bija seed mantras and their corresponding chakras are:
· Lam – focuses on the root chakra
· Vam – for the belly chakra
· Ram – focuses on the solar plexus
· Yam – for the heart chakra
· Ham – focuses on the throat chakra
· Om – for the third eye chakra
· All/Silence – for the crown chakra
One has to take note though that chanting the bija mantras must be done in order and that the practice for men and women are different. For women you start from LAM to ALL and for men, you start from ALL to LAM.
When performing the bija mantras for meditation, if you wish, place your hand over the corresponding chakra when chanting the mantra. Transmit your intention to your hand to activate and clear your energy centers.
